Block 1 Ayurveda Intensive

Block 1 Foundation course in Ayurveda is an online basic course in Ayurveda, the holistic system of health and wellness for our body, mind and soul from India. Our course focuses on the Vedic Hindu tradition, with, focus on Samkhya Philosophy, and, a detailed look at the three doshas -- the psycho somatic constitution we were born with. The course is for the beginner, who is interested in learning about the system as well as those who might be interested in pursuing the higher certifications.
This is our most popular course with yoga teachers, chiropractors, energy healers, reiki masters, Registered Nurses, as well as Registered Dieticians, and Nutritionists doing the course. This short 100 hour Certificate course is a sampler of whats to come in the block 2 -- so is also popular with practitioners of TCM, or, those interested in doing Block 2.
Course Break Down:
Unit 1: Ayurveda 101. Introduction. History. Eight Branches, Four Paramarthas, Sutra 15, Ayurveda and integration with Yoga, TCM and other Alt. Health System, Introduction to Ayurvedic Nutrition, prana and shad rasas, Five Elements - Samkhya, Tridoshas, Scope of Ayurveda, Introduction to Daily Regimen, Introduction to Seasonal Regimen - (Course Credit: 3)
Unit 2: Samkhya 101, Five Elements, Qualities of Pancha Mahabhutas - (Course Credit: 1)
Unit 3: Tridoshas 101, 3 doshas, 15 sub doshas, and, their symptoms, fill out the case study form, Prakruti form, vikruti form, Designing a Daily Regimen, Seasonal Regimen and Basic Ayurvedic Diet Protocols for Tridoshas, Daily Biological Clock(Course Credit: 3)
Unit 3.b: Agni, and Ama, Introduction to Tejas and Ojas -- Maintaining Digestive Health, Determine Mandagni, Tikshnagni, Samagni and Ama questionnaire (Course Credit: 3)
Handouts: Block 1 Students may be given access to Maharishi Ayurveda Block 1 handouts, Vata, Pitta and Kapha Diet Protocols, Study Aids, Home Quizzes
AssignmentsThere are two quizzes, 3 assignments and 2 case study forms that a student must submit, in order to graduate from this program into the Block 2.
Block 1 Foundation follows the regular 'online' distant learning, and, two hour 'live' webinars on Sundays. There is an additional workshop at our location, second week of FEB 2012, which is optional for students to attend. The optional one day on-location class in Escondido, California is a repetition of course material already covered in the Sunday Webinars. **

Course material includes: Audio-visual 'live' classes every sunday for 8 sundays , pre-recorded classes, presentations, lectures, assignments, and online quizzes at our Virtual Campus.
Students receive modules, study aids for correspondence, distant learning training.
The focus of this intensive is existing health professionals, alternative health practitioners, yoga teachers, chiropractors, massage therapists, nutritionists, registered nurses - who want to learn basics of Ayurveda and apply some of the knowledge immediately within their practice.
